December has already been my craziest month since living here. Everything is hectic and fun with Christmas coming up. I am trying to give more attention to my over all blog from photos to writing, and my social media.  I am loving it though! Now that I am settling its time to grow. And I've found myself settling in at Gail's Artisan Bakery on Portobello Road this month.
Back home in Canada I would have cinnamon buns from Cobs bakery every saturday morning, well afternoon by the time I got up. They were ooy and gooy and covered in icing. Here my cinnamon bun tradition had ended tragically, Tessco's buns just don't compare. One particular morning I was craving a cinnamon bun and was determined to search in order to indulge. I turned to my google to find the best cinnamon buns in London, a search that has a surprisingly high number of articles. After reading in depth about each bun I found Gail's, a well known artisan bakery and only a ten minute walk from my flat.

I made the slight mistake of going on a Saturday, market day on Portobello road, and the place was absolutely packed. I say slightly mistake because even though it was a struggle to get a seat, watching all the hustle of the market goers was entertaining. If your looking for more than a place to grab a quick coffee and treat then defiantly go on a week day, and you'll be able to snack and sip at your leisure. That Saturday though I was on a mission to get my baked good, and that I did do. It was not a let down. Though icing-less it was a different kind of cinnamon bun, more 'cruffin' like than bread like. It was amazing though and has defiantly filled any cravings I have had for them. I also had the Chai tea latte which was sweet and smooth.

I have now been coming back to the bakery regularly, on week days, to write and treat. The brick walls and wood tables give it a warm and cozy feel, which is a great escape as the weather gets colder. While the cinnamon bun is still my first choice there is a wide range of yummy treats. From fresh bread to mince pies everything has been delicious and so fresh. There is also a large number of people sitting on their laptops working so it's been a great place to write. I am sitting here now being the only one left in the shop, as it closes in 15 minutes, and still feel comfortable and calm.

There is a number of Gail's across London, from three in the Chelsea area to central Soho, and they have defiantly earned their popularity. For the Christmas season they are now offering special delivery options full of traditionally Christmas goodies to fill your pantry.
