December is an incredible month for magazines, with all the gift guilds and holiday travel destinations. Having a break from school and a long flight back to Canada I was lucky to have the time to read so many articles and admire some amazing shoots. It was hard to pick my favourite for the month but it had to go to British cult magazine, Dazed and Confused.
Dazed helped to build what the London fashion scene is today and they continue to push boundaries and produce exquisite issues. The magazine focuses on fashion content rather than branching out much into lifestyle or travel, this makes the monthly book a favourite for those in the fashion world.
The December issue was one of the best on the stands for it’s incredibly relevant, yet not cliché, central story of the Netflix series Stranger Things cast. Having the young cover stars Finn Wolfhard and Milly Bobby Brown (could the child stars have better celebrity names?) was a bold choice. They are not fashion icons or have attended fashion weeks but they’re show and the number 11 is a household name.
The cast of teens and tweens may look starry eyed and defiantly not like they dress themselves in real life but that’s what gives the feature it’s endearment. It’s a group of fresh young people who society has loved as 1980’s students chasing aliens and eating waffles now wearing Balenciaga and Vetements; and that’s the brilliance of it.
