I have learned a lot about Fashion Week through my experience and one of the things I think I learnt most about this season was street style. My first time attending London Fashion Week was this past September, which was one of my first blog posts, and I wrote a great deal about my impression on street style. I faced initial shock that street style wasn’t so much photographers finding amazingly dressed locals and attendees, rather it was people dressing for the street and to be photographed. My opinion that this is slightly undignified remains the same. However, I did see a lot more through attending shows this season and this included street style in in purest form: photographers running after bloggers and editors to get the best shot.
I believe that street style is an extremely important part of the fashion industry. Due to the way the current fashion week timetable is structure, A/W shows in Feb and SS/S shows in September, it is a way to see what trends from the shows stuck and are actually being worn by the fashionable and elite. What I saw on the runway these past weeks is what will be in stores for the 2016 fall, and what I liked I will wear to the shows in September.
I myself also got to partake in the street style games. Going to shows at Brewer Street Car park there was always a swarm of photographers and I was lucky enough to be shot by some. I do not mean to contradict myself. Posing for photographers while entering or exiting a show is part of Fashion Week. Going to a vintage store and picking out the craziest stuff you can kind and parading up and down the road (yes I have heard of and seen multiple people doing this) not really fashion.
I do believe that London has some of the best-dressed people on the planet and they’re all at Fashion Week. In this post I’ll be rounding up some of my favorite street style looks as well as my looks as captured by some street style photographers. My Iphone and I am no street photographer though, so rather I’ve found photos of people during the week. It is truly and incredible thing watching as one photographer spots a stylish person and one by one more photographers join until there is a flashing crescent moon of people walking in front of a girl in heels and a statement jacket.
Starting with one of my favourite and probably one of the most desirable looks from fashion week. Not only does Olivia demonstrate ever it trend of the moment, bomber jackets, sports wear, wide leg pants, but this is Topshop jacket that I saw the next few days at work begin snatched up.
LEOPARD is a massive trend this season - this is my favourite way to wear so far (and that phone case!)
London truly killed it this year, with their edge, grace, and fearlessness. Look out for more coming from Paris soon!
